Explore Cottonwood between Activities

Description

Imagine tearing across sunbaked trails in a UTV, wind whipping past. Later, slip into a kayak and glide down the Verde River under a canopy of cottonwood trees. It’s a mix of high‑energy and peaceful—just the right balance for a truly memorable outing.

This 4-hour adventure kicks off with a burst of adrenaline as you hop into a side-by-side UTV and venture off-road into Arizona’s rugged desert terrain. With a mapped route in hand and safety gear provided, you’ll embark on a journey down winding trails that unveil open vistas, dusty canyons, and the kind of scenery that demands a pause to take it all in. Whether you’re driving or enjoying the ride, the UTV leg promises an exhilarating way to discover the land beyond the pavement.

After the trail, it’s time to recharge in Old Town Cottonwood—home to sidewalk cafes, local shops, and a laid-back atmosphere. Then it’s off to the river. At the boathouse, you’ll be equipped with everything you need for the second part of the journey. A shuttle takes you to the riverbank, where kayaks await for a 3.1-mile guided float along the serene Verde River.

As you paddle, keep your eyes peeled for herons, hawks, and turtles, with towering sycamores casting dappled shade along the banks. The water is calm, the pace unhurried, and the scenery is simply breathtaking. Guides share insights about the region’s natural history as you glide past quiet farmland and lush riverbend ecosystems. It’s the perfect way to cool down, wind down, and round out a half-day packed with contrast, color, and unforgettable moments.
